Ardoch Broadening Horizons in a Virtual World When: 21 Oct 2020 Ardoch’s Broadening Horizon’s programs has provided students at our partner schools with unique and engaging learning and life experiences, opening their eyes to the world of opportunity around them. These programs could not come at a more opportune time as many students continue to struggle to engage with online learning. The programs cover a wide variety of experiences through our cultural, social wellbeing and STEM programs that enhance the curriculum and supports positive learning outcomes. We are thrilled that during Term 3 and over Term 4, we are delivering 215 Broadening Horizon’s programs, consisting of 70 social programs, 17 cultural and 128 STEM based programs. This year we are excited to have the opportunity to partner with some amazing organisations to provide unique interactive experiences, including Didgeridoo Australia, Project Rockit and Wildlife Xposure. Didgeridoo Australia supports the cultural programs. They provide great virtual experiences, where the students learn about indigenous culture, including demonstrations of dances and ceremonies, learning about different indigenous languages, hearing the didgeridoo, and so much more. Project Rockit provides online sessions that support our social wellbeing programs. Students will have the opportunity to learn how to deal with difficult online experiences such as cyberbullying, as well as respect and empathy. Wildlife Xposure offer educational incursions on native wildlife. We have partnered with them over several years now, and their programs are still a crowd favourite among the children. With one Early Years centre saying: ‘Thank you so much for giving us the opportunity to take part in this incursion. It was just what we all needed at this time. The kids loved it. Please pass on my thanks to the presenter he was so engaging and informative.’
