Double Impact Day 2020

On June 16, Ardoch will hold our third Double Impact Day. On this day, all donations will be doubled by matched pledges from our major supporters. Your gift of $100 will become $200 or your gift of $200 will become $400.

This year, we need your support more than ever before.

All of us have been affected by COVID-19 in some way, but for children in disadvantaged communities this disruption to their education is having significant impact.

New research from the Mitchell Institute indicates that students from low socio-economic backgrounds, with English as a second language or who have special learning needs are at particular risk of poor learning outcomes. It is estimated that vulnerable students could fall six weeks behind on numeracy and four weeks on reading.

Supporting this research, Australian Principals Federation President, Julie Podbury, says, ‘For most kids, a term away from school is not going to make much of a difference. It’s not the case for kids from more disadvantaged backgrounds and non-English speaking backgrounds. For them, every day lost multiplies as every day goes on.’ For children already behind and struggling, the long-term effect of this lost learning is significant.

Ardoch’s programs, which increase engagement in education, build aspirations and enhance learning outcomes, have never been more important than right now. As the immediate crisis passes, we must be prepared and ready to provide this vital support. Ardoch has not been unaffected, and we need your help more than ever before.
